Lord Jagannath temple at Puri to appear before devotees in youthful avatar on Nabajouban Darshan Today
After remaining out of bounds for a fortnight, the holy trinity of Lord Jagannath temple at Puri in Odisha will appear before devotees in a youthful avatar on Nabajouban darshan today. The devotees will be allowed to have the ‘Nabajouban’ darshan of sibling deities of Jagannath temple in Odisha’s Puri town for 3 hours from 8 AM to 11 AM. Lakhs of devotees gathered in a serpentine queue to catch a first glimpse of the lords, who were seemingly taken ill after a luxurious shower on Deba Snan Purnima on June 4. The deities had since been treated in a solitary room in the shrine and were off-limits to devotees. Security has been tightened to tackle the surging crowd and regulate the traffic.
Meanwhile, the beach town is all set for the nine-day Rath Yatra, which will kick off from tomorrow. Carpenters are giving finishing touches to the construction work of chariots. The administration has banned devotees from touching the deities, or devotees in disguise will be considered a cognizable offence during pahandi or atop chariots during the Rath Yatra.
